Generally, we find it most effective and enjoyable to troll for salmon and jig for halibut. We use downriggers while trolling for salmon and usually (depending on the tide) drift for halibut and fish on the bottom with 16-32 oz. weights. On most days we use herring for bait, but occasionally we'll use artificial lures such as hoochies and spoons.
We travel all over the Inside Passage on our charters. Depending on your preference, the length of your trip, the weather, the tides and where the fish are, we can go to any number of spots. There's no shortage of beautiful areas with plenty of salmon and halibut within minutes of Auke Bay and downtown Juneau.
We're sure that Auke Bay Sportfishing and Sightseeing Charters will bring you a fishing experience you'll never forget. Call us, e-mail us or write us to book your charter today!
